I am thankful for many things this year. Mostly, for my family and my friends who all make life worthwhile. I don’t think there is anything that makes life worth living more than having people to love.
This Thanksgiving is a little bit odd for me. I haven’t done any cooking–not even any pies! That picture is not from the table where I sat! I spent the day with my friend in the Kitsap County area of Washington, while my kids spent the day with their dad and my parents. That part about my parents being with them is a bit odd–but I’m glad that the kids were able to spend the holiday with their grandparents. I hope they are enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, and I am so thankful that my kids have wonderful, involved grandparents to love an to love them back.
I live in the Seattle suburbs, so there are lots of restaurants open for Thanksgiving. But out here in Kitsap County, we drove around for an hour and didn’t find anything except for a Denny’s. Instead, we went to a grocery store and got a turkey dinner from the deli. It’s funny, though, but I expected a few things to be open. When i lived in Los Angeles, I was able to walk to a wonderful deli for dinner one Christmas Eve. I sometimes miss living right in a big city where everything is so close and convenient.
On Monday, there was a huge wind and a-bit-of-snow storm that knocked out power to about 56,000 people here in the Kitsap County are, including my friend’s house. And the temperatures were dropping into the single digits on one of the days when so manywere without power. Power has now been restored to most people, and I hope that those that are still without power were able to enjoy their Thanksgiving Day. The temperatures have warmed up to the low to mid 30’s, so that is much better.
I do want to say a big “thank you!” to everyone who has helped me and encouraged me this year! Of course, my family and friends, I am so thankful for you! And if you have commented on my blog at any point or visited or shopped at my store or “liked” my store on Facebook or followed me on Twitter, thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving !
