It’s giveaway day, but I’ve got a hurt back. So my post is going to be short and sweet.
I’ve got a charm pack of Lily & Will II and 2 yards of coordinating fabric. The coordinating fabrics will be one yard of Bunny Hill Blue Moda Bella Solids and then a choice of a yellow and brown print or aqua and cream print. It’s enough to make up a little baby quilt top & probably the backing, too. I think this fabric line is adorable, and I love that it’s gender neutral!
To enter, simply tell me what you would do if you were certain you wouldn’t fail. For me, the answer is that I would open an actual brick & mortar fabric and yarn shop with a wonderful coffee shop attached. There would be a wonderful space for classes and casual sewing and knitting for customers. It would be everyone’s favorite crafty hangout!
Check back for more giveaways in the upcoming weeks. I’m slowly sorting out what I have for giveaways from Quilt Market last week, so there will be more to giveaway! Sorry, but this is only open to US residents. Please accept my apologies that I didn’t extend this to international entries. Giveaway will be open through May 25th.
Comments are closed and a winner will be announced in the next post. Thanks!

We’d have space set up for artists’ retreats, and only nice people would stay with us! Ah…to dream!
thanks for the giveaway
radiyas(at)gmail(dot)com
I would open my own family counseling practice. Or, maybe just stay home to sew!!!
Hello,
I like your dream of your own quilt shop, but I like the idea of buying a winning lottery ticket better. Then I would be able to quit my job, stay at home and sew, garden and watch my grandkids grow.
I would be a chef in my own funky, midtown earthy restaurant. We would serve only local, organic food in a laid back atmosphere.
Thank you so much for making me remember my dream career!! And for the giveaway!!
Kris krisdavis8@aol.com
What a great giveaway! I’m with you about opening a quilt shop. Maybe a Quilt shop with a Tea Room attached. Thanks for participating in SMS Giveaway Day.
If I were sure I wouldn’t fail, I would open a bakery and cafe in our town. We don’t have a “real” bakery here, and I know I rock at baking. I just don’t know if my dh and I have the money if it DID fail… that’s the only thing holding me back.
I am swooning over this giveaway. I love Lily and Will (I and II) but I can’t find it at a store near me. Thank you so much for the chance (and I hope your back is feeling better!).
I would be a photographer.
If I were certain I would not fail, I would become a paperback novelist
I would go back to school for my master’s and phd…but not worried about failing in school, worried about failing at home with my 3 little boys. I only have once chance with them!
I would probably start my own fabric store if I knew I wouldn’t fail. There are very few fabric/quilting stores here and none of them ever carry the lines of fabric that I’m looking for.
I would start my own little clothing shop for children with all my etsy stuff and stuff my friends make too.
I hope your back is feeling better!
Thanks for the chance.
I would buy a top of the line Gammilll long arm and start a quilting business. I’m a nurse and I’d continue to do that VERY part time.
I, too, dream of a real quilt store…I love to bake, so would always have on hand fresh cookies and cinnamon rolls. A place to sit and read the newest mag. with coffee, or a place for the husband to sit and wait…sigh~ Thanks for a chance at winning a great prize.
I would say make a quilt, b/c I really have wanted too but just haven’t tackled it yet…Not that big of a deal, but one of the things I’d like to achieve. Having my own brick & mortar shop would be awesome too!
Thanks so much!
I would turn my home and barn into a quilting retreat. One that would have waiting lists to attend. And I would have all of you be my first guests. I would design fantastic pins for the memories and all my retreaters would return every year at the same time for years and years!! I would add barn buildings for classrooms and I would have them all equipped with top of the line sewing machines, irons, quilting machines and only the best teachers, pattern designers, and all of you would be part of it.
That sounds like so much fun! Sign me up!!
Thanks, Cathy
I would open a craft school where people could come and learn how to make anything they want. I’d probably have a yarn/fabric shop attached too.
I’d love to have my own line of fabric and be able to spend lots of time creating new patterns and techniques.
I would love to paint. and design fabric. Or open a quilt retreat center. Oh… the possibilities!
I would open a bookstore – with new books and used books. I already have the requisite Bookstore Cat, Tigger. He LOVES used books and any time I bring a book home from Goodwill or a used book store he sniffs and sniffs and sniffs it. He would be a good Bookstore Cat.
I would buy a house near my family so I have someplace to come home to, buy a caravan and make a living doing something that I don’t have to be in one place for. Then, I’d just travel all over, staying in different cities for weeks at a time. I’d let people paint on the caravan and it would be totally groovy.
I would be an archaeologist or a linguist if I felt like I could get a job close to home and still support myself!
Not as cool as you Cathy – but I’d buy a lottery ticket! I thought about it today. But that was as far as I got. In fact I’d buy tickets for all the different lotteries!
I would also like to open a quilt store with a big classroom so that our weekly sit n sew group could meet there. Thanks for the giveaway.

I would start a long arm quilting business!

What a wonderfully crafty idea! I’d visit your shop/coffee hang-out all the time. I’ve always wanted to do something similar with a bookstore/writing room/coffee shop vibe. Sigh. It’s fun to dream. Thanks!
I think I too would open a craft store, both yarn and fabric. Either that or become a chemist or forensic investigator.

Wow what a question! I’d love to go back to school and get either my master’s degree or my CEBS. It has been way too long since I was in a classroom (other than for quilting classes that is!)

Does buying a winning lottery ticket count?
Awesome question! I would write a book. Tons of books. Budget, Recipes, Quilt fiction, and a self-help motivational book. Then I would become a FMQer. Ahhh…the life.
Awesome giveaway! Thanks so much!
I think if I knew I couldn’t fail, I’d do exactly what I’m doing – being a stage manager! Success and failure are so subjective, it’s hard to know what I wouldn’t do. I know I’m taking a risk working in theatre and I know that it might not last forever, but it brings my happiness!!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to travel around the world and enjoy the beauty of different cultures.
What classy fabrics! Love it!
That’s hard to say. I really don’t mind failing. I can’t think of anything that I would not try for fear of failing. The only thing I can possibly think of is to buy a lottery ticket! The odds really are so bad that I won’t even waste a dollar on a ticket, but if I was certain that I wouldn’t fail, well that’s a no brainer!
Wow, that’s a great question. I’d start a non-profit land development company to do low income housing projects. Thanks for the chance to win.

I would open an automata museum and workshop.
I would outsource some of the sewing portion of my little clothing business if I knew it would be worth the risk and that it wouldn’t fail! With baby three coming soon, I find myself struggling with the decision to close up shop and just focus on family or to try to juggle both… I adore those fabrics! We didn’t find out the gender of this little one so that color palette would be so perfect!!
I would so hang out at your shop and take the classes! What a great dream! I myself would open a scrapbooking store with a childcare attached on one side and a chocolate shop on the other!
Wow! You and I have the same dream! My husband and I have always talked about opening a knitting/book store with a coffee shop and lounge. And now that I’ve caught the sewing bug, I might have to add in fabric too. aahhhh…I love dreaming. katiefewell(at)gmail(dot)com
I’m new to this whole blogging thing so this giveaway event has been a great opportunity for me to find great sites like this. And that charm pack is lovely. “If I knew it wouldn’t fail” I would love to open a crafting center where crafters could gather, chat, inspire and create. mageenadilah(at)gmail(dot)com
Wow, what an interesting question. I think a more appropriate one, for me, would be “What WOULDN’T I do?” I’d sing and paint and dance and climb Mt. Everest (well, maybe not–too cold). OK, I think I know: I’d open a bakery. I love to bake. And a yarn shop, since I love to knit. I can do both since I won’t fail, right?
Thank you for the lovely giveaway!

I say go for it and open your shop! Do not be afraid of failure. When you look back, you won’t regret that you tried it, you might regret that you didn’t!!
As for me, fear of failure doesn’t really keep me from doing something, it’s more lack of time and/or money!
I’d launch my photography business!
Don’t be afarid of failure. Dream big about your shop, but also, go out and do it. I am switching careers from engineering to teaching. Scary, but worth it for my sanity. Good luck!
